Madge Sexton Kindergarten
Madge Sexton Kindergarten is named after the late Madge Helen Sexton who worked tirelessly with a group of mothers in the local community to fundraise and build a Kindergarten for the local children of McLaren Vale. They established the first Kindergarten in McLaren Vale in 1955 on Tatachilla Road, which moved on site with McLaren Vale Primary School in 2005. The Kindergarten staff have a strong connection with Madge’s family and the children and families learn about Madge and her importance throughout their time at Kindergarten, and her image is strong in the Kindergarten’s indoor and outdoor learning environments. The staff team are inspired by the principles of the Reggio Emilia philosophy and nature play, which are embedded, interwoven with other excellent early childhood practices. Every decision we make is based around a strong image of the child as competent and capable.
